The Shimmering Week:

Return to Your Creative Source

ss.com-full, transparent, white

A five-day, one-on-one writing retreat in Prince Edward County for the writer who feels lost, overwhelmed, or stuck—so you can reconnect to your creative power and write with natural ease again.

November 22 to 28, 2025
(1 week)

You know you’re a writer.

But somewhere along the way, you got off track.

Maybe you’ve been away from your work for longer than you meant to be, and now you can’t find your way back in. Or you’re showing up to write, but you’re spinning your wheels—working hard but not making real progress. You feel disconnected from what made you love this in the first place.

You need more than motivation or discipline. You need to remember how to trust yourself again.

It’s time to reconnect. Not just to your project, but to the deeper source of your creativity—the place where writing feels like coming home instead of forcing your way through.

That’s what this retreat creates.

The Transformation

Over five days together in Prince Edward County, we’ll work one-on-one to help you:

  • Reconnect to your creative source so writing feels energizing instead of depleting

  • Release the fear and resistance that keeps you from showing up with confidence

  • Access both your intellect and intuition so you write with clarity and magic at once

  • Build momentum that lasts beyond the retreat week

During this week, you will not push through. You will release the blocks that are keeping you from the unconscious source of your story, so your writing can flow naturally again.

The work we do together is both dreamy and grounded. You’ll be connected to the realm of ideas while centred in your body and the natural world around you. Breakthroughs feel like magic, but they’re deeply embodied. You’ll work with your unconscious mind and your conscious craft at the same time.

By the end of the week, you’ll leave with fresh insights, tangible progress on your work, and a renewed sense of clarity and confidence in your writing.

“Sarah is a master coach.”

“Working with Sarah one-on-one over many months was transformative. Writing has become a love story, as well as an exquisite exploration of my connection to life. With sensitivity and care, Sarah showed me that I can trust the process at a deeper level than my conscious mind. She shared exercises and daily practices that guided me in letting go into the liminal space of generative writing without losing my way. That was one of many revelations. Sarah creates a space of sacredness and levity in every session. You’ll feel challenged, encouraged, and celebrated at each turn. And you’ll come away with a renewed sense of courage, continuity and confidence. Sarah is a master coach. Her work is a unique and a rare gift for writers of all backgrounds.”

The Setting

Nestled in the quiet countryside of Prince Edward County, this retreat offers something rare: complete immersion in both your creative work and the natural world.

Here, surrounded by fields, forests, and the contemplative beauty of late autumn in Southeastern Ontario, you’ll find the deep stillness your writing has been seeking.

Each day begins with intention in our morning sessions, where we explore your work together. You’ll have long stretches of uninterrupted writing time, and time to reflect in the evening as early dusk settles over the landscape.

You’ll write at your own rhythm, take crisp walks along country roads between sessions, and discover how your relationship to writing deepens when it’s held by someone who knows how to guide you back to your creative source.

When I hold space for your transformation—through focused attention, through accessing your unconscious wisdom, through daily practice—your creative energy amplifies. You remember what’s possible when you trust yourself.

“Sarah... makes the process feel as easy as breathing.”

“My Creative Catalyst retreats with Sarah have offered me a gentle, grounding, and energizing re-entry into my writing after what felt like too much time away to find my way back in. With her extensive experience and the fascinating toolkit she’s created to support her clients (including Timeline Therapy, hypnosis and tarot), Sarah opens the portal to receptive storymaking and makes the process feel as easy as breathing. I was amazed by how quickly I was able to re-connect with my book, get excited about it all over again and observe myself turning out pages with surprising lines and evocative images. It was such a relief to discover that my story was very much alive and ready to “talk” to me again! I’ll keep booking creative retreats with Sarah because she has designed an experience that is exactly what I need at different stages of the writing process: a balance of personal touchpoints where I can ask questions, share and celebrate what’s emerging, time and space to wander in peaceful surroundings and plenty of focused writing time. I always come away feeling a deeper sense of trust in myself and confidence in my writing. If you’re feeling stuck, lost or overwhelmed I highly recommend working 1:1 with Sarah. The pace at which you’ll experience breakthroughs will feel magical. You, and your writing, will be deeply transformed.”

Date:

November 22–28, 2025

The retreat runs for five full days of focused writing and coaching, with a day on either end for travel and settling in. This schedule ensures you have time to arrive, get comfortable, and depart without feeling rushed.

Accommodation & Travel

You arrange your own travel, food, and accommodation. This allows you to choose what best fits your needs and budget—whether that’s a boutique hotel, cozy Airbnb, local inn, or staying with a friend.
I’m happy to recommend local options. There are beautiful places throughout Prince Edward County: total seclusion with lake views, easy access to forest paths, or a location in downtown Picton where you can clear your head with the sound of Main Street.

Sarah Carter

“Transformative for my writing practice!”

“Working with Sarah has been truly transformative for my writing practice. In a broad sense, I no longer find my inner critic talking me out of showing up to the page to write. Sarah and I were able to clearly identify long-held limiting beliefs that held me back from believing in the validity and worth of my writing practice. Additionally, Sarah helped me figure out how to realistically plan and set goals for completing my book that are very specific to my own life rhythms. All of this work is allowing me now to approach writing both with curiosity and excitement but also steadiness and a newfound sense of ease. I truly cannot thank you enough for our time together!”

“I am forever changed as a writer.”

“Mentorship with Sarah made my writing more vivid, more tangible, more visceral, and embodied. And I feel like I am forever changed as a writer.

Sarah uses intuition as a tool to help you find your writing. Every time I interacted with Sarah, I was surprised by how supportive and delightful she is. And in that container of support, I really rediscovered my ability to listen to what my story had to tell me.

I can’t recommend working with Sarah enough. She’s an incredible human being. Those of us who get to work with her see that immediately. She is a unicorn.”

Why I Guide Writers Through This Work

I know what it feels like to be disconnected from your writing.

After my first book was published and shortlisted for a major literary prize, I began to gradually lose touch with what made me love writing in the first place. I couldn’t find the joy in it anymore. Pressure and self-doubt grew into a wall of resistance.

It took me years to find my way back—to understand that the heaviness I felt wasn’t just “writer’s block” but a signal from my true nature, showing me I’d moved away from freedom and into force.

That journey led me deep into the study of consciousness, creativity, and how our minds work. I trained in Timeline Therapy, hypnotherapy, and NLP. I studied with master teachers across multiple disciplines. I sat in silent meditation for weeks at a time. I learned how to work with both the conscious craft of writing and the unconscious source of creativity.

For over twenty years, I’ve been teaching writers how to access creative curiosity—that state where intellect and intuition work together, where writing feels both grounded and magical.

I see you. I know where you are because I’ve been there. I know where you want to go because I’ve walked that path—and I’ve guided hundreds of writers through it.

The retreat I’ve designed is a carefully crafted container for transformation, using specific practices that help you access what you already know but can’t reach on your own.

If you feel lost, if you’re spinning your wheels, if you can’t find your way back to what you love about writing—let’s get you back on track. I’d be honoured to guide you home.
